You may experience some problems access the UConn Libraries Gale databases. The vendor has informed us that they are currently experiencing intermittent problems with their online databases and are working to correct the problems as quickly as possible.

Web of Science — new interface *try the new interface*
Scholarly journal articles in the sciences, social sciences, arts & humanities. A great database for high quality scholarly articles on any topic. Excellent for citation searching. 1994-present.

Three new / changed databases interfaces / platforms for your information:
1. The Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals has switched from the RLG interface to the FirstSearch interface. The link in the ERM for Avery now points to the new interface; see for yourself at http://rdl.lib.uconn.edu/databases/859
2. Social Work Abstracts has gone from Ovid / SilverPlatter to EBSCO. The link in the ERM for Social Work Abstracts now points to EBSCO; see the new interface http://rdl.lib.uconn.edu/databases/933

The Dodd Center’s Mexican Broadsides and Pamphlets Collection has been converted from an access database and loaded into HOMER, the library catalog. To take a look at records in this collection, search “Mex” as a call number. If you want to know more about this collection, contact T.J. Kao at the Dodd Center.

UConn Libraries InterLibrary Loan Services has a new webpage!
We hope these changes will help to better direct you to the best service option for your needs.
Where did the NetID and password log in go?
Most services do not require a log in. If the service you select from the menu requires one, you will be prompted, and your log in will take you directly to the form needed for your request.
For books and videos, why should I go to the Virtual Catalog or WorldCat before using the book form?
· The Virtual Catalog allows you to bypass the DD-ILL staff and place a request for a title directly from a lending library. As a result, you obtain the title much faster.
(Book requests only)
· WorldCat offers you direct access to more than 16,000 libraries while allowing you to request books, DVDs, musical scores, etc. Also, because using WorldCat requires less intermediate handling, it too can often get you what you need more quickly.

Can’t find that book in the UConn Library system, or are all copies on loan?
Then select the BLC link 
in the HOMER Library catalogue. If the book is held by one of these 16 libraries in the Boston Library Consortium, it will be delivered to you for free.

A web site has been developed by librarians at the Homer Babbidge Library in Storrs to make it easy to find electronic reference books that have been purchased by UConn. Reference Books Online allows you to browse titles or subject to find a wealth of information traditionally found on library reference shelves. Many of these electronic books are only available to UConn students, faculty, & staff. If you have a valid NetID but are off-campus, please log into the Libraries’ VPN before accessing this page.
